What is fashion dropshipping?

Fashion dropshipping means selling clothing and accessories through your own online store while a supplier holds the stock and ships orders to your customers. You choose the collection, set prices and take payments. The supplier handles fulfillment; your store handles product information, customer questions and refunds.

How a clothing order works

  1. List a focused collection. Choose products, confirm the available sizes and publish accurate delivery and return information.
  2. A customer buys from your store. You receive the order through Shopify and your payment provider.
  3. You pay the supplier. Your integration or manual workflow sends the order for fulfillment, including product and shipping charges.
  4. The supplier ships; you support the customer. Follow the tracking and handle questions, delivery problems and refunds.

Supplier payment can be due before your customer payout reaches your bank. Keep cash available for orders and refunds. Our order workflow guide explains the separate roles.

What matters when you sell fashion

  • Fit: use garment measurements and the supplier's size chart, rather than assuming every medium fits the same.
  • Product detail: check fabric, care instructions, colors and permission to use the photos.
  • Delivery: quote the selected item's dispatch origin and destination. A mixed basket may arrive in separate parcels.
  • Returns: work out the address, deadline, exclusions and costs before publishing your customer policy.

Buying stock in bulk is a different model. For your own printed designs, compare print on demand and catalog clothing before choosing a supplier.

Compare fashion dropshipping suppliers

Choose the sourcing model for your customer and collection, then check the exact product and delivery country. Trendsi, a supplier marketplace and print on demand solve different needs; they are not interchangeable catalogs.

Published terms checked . This is a document-based comparison, not a ranking from sample orders or measured delivery performance. On a small screen, scroll the table sideways.

Three sourcing routes: candidate fit and published limitations
RouteWhen to consider itPublished limits to check
Trendsi
Fashion catalog
You want to curate existing clothing and accessories. Check whether the selected garments, sizes and delivery route fit your boutique. Its U.S. standard-shipping estimates are 2–5 business days for U.S. products and 5–10 for overseas products. Its return service is U.S.-only, with deadlines and excluded categories. Estimates are not guaranteed delivery dates.
Syncee
Supplier marketplace
You want to compare individual suppliers for a specific category or destination rather than use one fashion catalog. The individual suppliers handle shipping, returns and refunds. Obtain the selected supplier's destination quote, return address and exceptions; there is no single marketplace-wide return promise.
Printful
Print on demand
You want to put artwork you own or can license on available apparel. Its on-demand model has no order minimum; it is different from developing an original garment.Production time is added to shipping time. Its policy does not cover buyer's remorse or wrong size/color choices; damaged, defective and misprinted items have a separate claim process.

Turn the comparison into a shortlist

  1. Choose one market and a few product references. Record the garment measurements, stock, image permissions and destination eligibility. A store language or supplier location does not establish delivery coverage.
  2. Price the same basket. Obtain one-item and two-item quotes to the same destination. Include separate parcels, supplier payments, shipping and any recurring app costs in your order-cost calculation.
  3. Write the return path. Record who receives a return, the request deadline, exclusions and who pays. Supplier reimbursement may leave costs your store must cover. Keep unanswered terms marked unknown.

Use the editable supplier enquiry templates to request missing details, then record the replies in the supplier evaluation worksheet. Published terms do not establish physical fit, fabric feel or actual delivery performance.

For more catalog options and dated plan references, read the Shopify fashion supplier comparison. If Trendsi fits your shortlist, the Trendsi review explains its limitations before you connect it.

Can a $40 clothing order be profitable?

The difference between the selling price and garment cost is only the starting point. Include delivery, payment fees, returns and customer acquisition before deciding what you can afford. Here, $40 is revenue after discounts, excluding sales tax and including any shipping charged to the customer.

−$8
Contribution before fixed costs and tax
$4

Illustrative USD assumptions, not supplier quotes or reported earnings. The $4 still needs to cover store subscriptions and other fixed costs. This is contribution per order, not net profit.

If advertising costs $12 instead of $8, the same order leaves $0 before fixed costs. More orders at those economics will not cover your subscription bill.

Replace the assumptions in the free order-cost calculator. Set “Other costs per order” to $0 to reproduce this example; its default $2 allocation otherwise leaves $2. Count subscriptions once, either separately or as an allocation per order. Use the editable startup-budget planner to add the bills due in your chosen period and the cash you want to hold for supplier orders and refunds.

Plan your store before signing up

Choose one customer group, a small collection and one delivery market. Compare the same basket and destination across suppliers, then write down the product costs, payout timing and return path. Use the beginner's clothing-store launch guide for the full sequence.

Check Shopify's current plan and trial terms for your country. A trial covers access to the platform; it does not pay supplier orders, marketing or refunds. Trendsi's free membership also leaves products and shipping payable.

Fashion dropshipping questions

Can I start clothing dropshipping without buying inventory?

You can sell supplier-held clothing without purchasing a bulk collection. You still need money for supplier orders, shipping, fees and refunds, and a process for checking stock and product information.

How much money do I need to start?

There is no single launch budget. Your country, platform plan, supplier, marketing choices and payout timing change the amount. Use our worked store budget to separate bills you pay from cash you keep available for fulfillment and refunds.

Can I use Trendsi outside the U.S.?

Check the exact item and delivery country in Trendsi's shipping information. Its return service is U.S.-only, so international delivery does not establish a return solution. Choose the language and market guide that matches your intended customers.

Is dropshipping clothing profitable?

Profit depends on your selling price and all of your costs. In the $40 example above, $4 remains before fixed costs and tax; changing the advertising cost can remove that contribution. These are planning assumptions, not a forecast or guaranteed result.

Do I need my own clothing designs?

No. Catalog dropshipping lets you choose existing garments. Print on demand is an alternative when you want to put designs you own or can license on blank apparel. Both need accurate sizing, product information and a delivery and return process.

What should I do after starting a Shopify trial?

Set up your account on Shopify, then return to the three-step setup guide. Clicking our Shopify trial link unlocks the Trendsi step; select “Continue to Trendsi” to move on. For written tasks and a printable worksheet, use the store build-along. Check costs, products, delivery and checkout before accepting customer orders.

How can I ask a question or suggest a correction?

Use our contact form or email [email protected]. Include the page address and the country or language you are asking about.
