ReConvert for Clothing Stores: Costs and First Upsell Setup

Published by: Fashion Dropshipping · Research method

Updated 9 October 2026 · Documentation-based guide; we have not tested this app, a supplier order or a sales lift.

ReConvert is an optional upsell app for Shopify stores, also branded Upsell.com. It can present additional product offers, but it does not bring your first visitors or establish that an order is profitable. For a new clothing store, finish your product pages, shipping information and buying path before adding another selling step.

Start a Shopify trial to build your first store. Check the current offer and regular subscription terms. An optional app has its own billing and eligibility; a Shopify trial does not cover all operating costs.

Finish the first buying path before adding offers

Our recommendation for a store with no customers yet is to start with the beginner clothing-store guide and launch checklist. Make it possible to understand a garment, choose a size, see destination costs and complete checkout. An upsell app is not a launch requirement.

Later, consider one offer if you can explain why the extra item is useful, source it reliably and account for its costs. Keep your original purchase and order information easy to reach. A relevant suggestion is a hypothesis to inspect, not evidence of higher sales.

Check the exact plan before approving app charges

The ReConvert App Store listing checked on 9 October 2026 displayed a free tier up to 50 orders or US$50 upsell revenue, followed by US$9.99/month for 51–100, US$19.99 for 101–200 and US$39.99 for 201–500 in its order/revenue tiers. Paid tiers showed a 14-day trial and USD billing every 30 days.

However, the developer's Shopify billing guide describes a free Growth allowance up to 2,000 monthly store orders or upsell revenue, whichever is higher. The pricing page also presents Growth as starting free. These published allowances differ. We cannot establish which offer applies to your account from public pages alone.

Before installation or a plan change, ask the developer to confirm the allowance, currency, billing period, tier changes and cancellation terms for your store. Read the actual charge approval screen and keep a copy. Do not budget on an assumed permanent free plan or an old price.

The developer says its billing calculation uses the higher of total store orders and app-generated revenue over the previous 30 days. It also says disabling offers does not stop applicable charges while the app remains installed after onboarding, and a previous trial affects eligibility. Review the app-removal guide when evaluating cancellation.

Separate checkout, post-purchase and thank-you placements

Shopify's checkout app guidance lists post-purchase extensions and thank-you/order-status extensions for Basic or higher. Extensions on the information, shipping and payment steps require Plus. These are different placements; an app's checkout feature list does not make every placement available on your plan. Only one app can be selected for post-purchase features at a time.

Shopify's post-purchase product-offer documentation explains that this offer appears after payment and before the thank-you page. It lists restrictions involving payment methods, duties, multiple currencies and sales channels. It also describes fulfillment holds while a post-purchase flow is pending. Do not assume every order will show the offer or that fulfillment immediately proceeds unchanged.

The developer's missing-offer troubleshooting guide highlights alternative payments, express checkout and currency mismatches. Confirm your particular payment, market and supplier-automation combination with support. Keep payment choices useful to customers; changing currency or removing a payment method merely to show an offer can affect the rest of your store.

Write down one garment-and-accessory pairing

Illustrative idea: someone purchasing a dress could be offered a matching belt. This is not a tested pairing or a fit recommendation. Check the belt's measurements, permitted images, color, available variant, destination and return conditions before using the idea.

Trigger
[Exact purchased product and variant]. Exclude products where the suggestion is unsuitable or already included.
Offer
[Exact add-on variant], [price], [any additional shipping or charges], [delivery information]. Confirm stock and costs before activation.
Customer choice
Use clear accept and decline wording. Keep access to confirmation and support. Do not imply the extra item is required to receive the original order.

Replace every bracket with verified information. Avoid fabricated popularity, artificial urgency, unsupported fit claims or promised priority processing. A separate item can have a different shipping route; being shown together does not establish a combined shipment.

If considering Trendsi account options, follow the connection guide and supplier evaluation guide. Confirm the add-on's own availability and fulfillment details. Importing products does not document their physical quality.

Inspect a small, reversible setup

  1. Review eligibility and billing: compare your plan, market and payment setup with the current documentation. Resolve the pricing difference with support before authorizing charges.
  2. Configure one offer: use the app's current onboarding to select the intended placement, trigger, variant, displayed price and shipping treatment. Inspect the preview before activation.
  3. Check placement settings: Shopify directs merchants to configure the app, then select the post-purchase app in Settings → Checkout. Thank-you blocks use the checkout/accounts editor instead. Follow the instructions for your selected placement.
  4. Verify the order path: inspect accept, decline and unavailable-item behavior using the developer's supported testing method. Check the final variant, total, notifications and supplier integration. Record what was actually verified and what remains untested.

Shopify's test-order documentation says payment-gateway testing requires a paid plan and live orders cannot be placed while providers are in test mode. Ask the developer how to validate its particular offer without a real charge or unintended fulfillment. A preview or simulated checkout alone does not prove every live post-purchase path works. Restore intended settings before accepting customers.

Use the product-page and checkout checks to inspect phone and desktop layouts. Confirm that offer widgets do not hide size selection, prices, decline controls or order information.

Extra revenue is not extra profit

Fictional calculation: an add-on brings in US$15. Its recorded costs are US$6 for goods, US$4 additional shipping, US$1 payment fees and US$2 allocated to refunds: US$13 total. That leaves US$2 before app fees, other excluded costs and fixed overhead.

If a hypothetical billing period had ten such accepted add-ons, the contribution would be US$20 before the app fee. With an assumed US$25 app fee, it would be minus US$5 before other costs. The US$25 fee is invented for arithmetic; it is not a ReConvert price quote. This calculation predicts neither acceptance nor profit.

Use the store cost guide and planning calculator for your own inputs. Later, record eligible orders, displayed offers, accepted offers, refunds and costs over a defined period. App-attributed revenue or a higher average order value alone cannot establish incremental profit.

Five checks before enabling the offer

  1. Need: the basic store works and this offer addresses a specific customer use.
  2. Charges: your account's allowance, billing trigger and cancellation terms are confirmed.
  3. Product: the exact variant, measurements, stock, delivery route and return conditions are documented.
  4. Experience: placement eligibility, clear prices, decline behavior, confirmation and fulfillment handling are checked.
  5. Evidence: expected costs and unresolved checks are recorded; no promised sales lift or invented results.

Keep the first-store app guide nearby when deciding which tools to add. You can launch the core store and revisit upsells when you have a specific reason and enough information to evaluate them.

ReConvert questions for a first clothing store

Do I need ReConvert to launch a clothing store?

No. Our recommendation is to finish product information, shipping and the basic buying path first. Consider an optional upsell app when you have a specific offer and can evaluate its costs.

Is ReConvert also called Upsell.com?

The Shopify listing identifies ReConvert and its developer Upsell.com. Use the current listing and developer documentation to check the product and terms for your account.

Is ReConvert free for my Shopify store?

Public sources checked on 9 October 2026 showed different free allowances. Confirm your account-specific plan, limits and charge approval with the developer before relying on a free tier.

Does every Shopify customer see a post-purchase offer?

No. Eligibility depends on the placement, payment method, market and other platform restrictions. Inspect your own configuration using the current documentation and developer support.

Will a dress and an accessory ship together?

Do not assume so. Confirm each variant, supplier, shipping route, charges and processing information before presenting the pairing. An upsell display does not establish combined fulfillment.

Does higher order value prove an upsell is profitable?

No. Account for goods, additional shipping, payment fees, refunds and app charges. Track costs and outcomes; attributed revenue alone does not prove incremental profit.
