Privy for Clothing Stores: Pricing, Signup Forms and Welcome Email

Privy combines signup displays, email marketing and optional SMS for Shopify stores. For a first clothing store, our suggested starting point is one clear email signup form and one useful welcome email. Add more campaigns only when you can maintain the messages, permissions and costs.

Start a Shopify trial when you are ready to build your store. Check the current offer and regular subscription terms. An email app is an optional expense, separate from your store subscription.

Affiliate disclosure: we may earn a commission through Shopify or Trendsi links at no extra cost to you. The Shopify App Store source link below also uses our affiliate link.

Privy pricing: pageviews, email contacts and SMS credits

On the date above, the official Privy App Store listing shows Pop Ups & Displays at US$24/month for up to 10,000 monthly pageviews; Email at US$30/month for up to 1,500 email contacts, including popups and unlimited email sends; and Email and SMS at US$45/month for up to 1,500 email contacts plus 1,250 SMS credits. Pricing scales with the relevant usage. External charges may be billed separately from the Shopify invoice.

The Privy pricing page also presents contact-based email pricing and SMS credit options. Packages and credit offers can differ between presentations: confirm your actual account quote, currency, billing cycle and upgrade conditions. Do not add the US$24 popup charge to an email bundle that already includes popups.

A pageview is not a subscriber, and an SMS credit is not an email contact. Record each allowance separately. Unlimited email sends do not mean an unlimited contact tier or unlimited texts. Choose the features you need, rather than paying for every channel at launch.

Compare our Shopify Messaging guide and App Store selection guide before approving another subscription. Keep one system responsible for each welcome or cart message so customers do not receive duplicates.

Create one signup form for a clothing store

Follow Privy's Shopify installation instructions: install through the App Store, connect the correct store, enable the Privy Theme Block in the Shopify theme editor and save. Review permissions and existing contact imports. The integration syncs contacts, products and order data; it does not create permission to market to everyone in your customer records. Check the theme block again after a theme change.

  1. Choose a display: open Displays → New display and choose a template. Our starting recommendation is a modest bar or embedded form that leaves the garment page readable.
  2. Explain the signup: say what emails the visitor will receive. Use an email field, a clear submit button and a visible privacy link; collect additional details only when needed.
  3. Set behavior: review triggers, audience targeting and signup rules. Avoid repeatedly interrupting an existing subscriber or placing the form over size selectors and checkout controls.
  4. Preview the complete path: inspect desktop and mobile layouts, opt-in settings and the thank-you state. Publish only after the links and signup behavior work as intended.

Privy's display guide explains templates, settings and previews. Our preference for a small form is a usability recommendation, not a conversion result. Google's interstitial guidance recommends keeping content accessible and using small banners rather than obscuring the page. A delayed or exit-triggered popup is not automatically safe for search visibility.

Build one welcome email in Flows

Privy's current welcome Flow instructions use Flows → New Flow → Welcome Email. The template supports subscription-channel, source and history filters, entry frequency and optional order-based exit criteria.

  1. Set the audience: choose email subscribers and the intended signup source. Review first-time versus returning subscribers and use no re-entry if you want a single introduction.
  2. Keep the first message useful: introduce the store, link to one relevant collection, and explain where to find garment measurements, shipping and returns information.
  3. Review conditions: inspect delays, filters and exit settings. Check welcome and abandoned-cart automations in Shopify and other apps before enabling overlapping messages.
  4. Publish and check a fresh signup: verify the actual message, links and contact status. Welcome Flows respond to new qualifying subscriptions; publishing does not retroactively welcome every old contact.

A test email preview alone does not establish that a new subscriber enters the Flow correctly. Use your own authorized test address to check the complete signup path. Keep any later promotional series short enough to maintain and consistent with the signup promise.

Sample wording without invented store evidence

The following is an editable example, not a campaign we have tested. Replace the bracketed text and links with real store information. Do not promise products, schedules or benefits you cannot provide.

Signup invitation
“Get new collection updates and clothing guides from [Store name] by email. Read our privacy policy. You can unsubscribe at any time.”
Welcome subject
“Welcome to [Store name] — start with our [collection name]”
Welcome message
“Thanks for subscribing. Explore [collection link], check each garment's measurement chart, and read [shipping link] and [returns link] before ordering. For product questions, contact us at [store contact]. Use the unsubscribe link below if these emails are no longer useful.”

You do not need a signup discount. If you choose one, use Privy's coupon instructions and check minimum spend, expiry, eligible products and combinations in checkout. Account for the discount alongside product cost, shipping, fees, refunds and app charges. Avoid invented scarcity, fake bestsellers or unsupported delivery guarantees in the welcome message.

If you plan to source clothing through Trendsi account options, follow the connection guide and supplier evaluation guide. Confirm the specific item's availability, measurements and shipping route before featuring it. An email app does not establish supplier reliability.

Privy's email opt-in documentation describes single opt-in and double opt-in settings per display. With double opt-in, a new subscriber must confirm through the confirmation email before becoming mailable and receiving welcome messages. Check the confirmation and thank-you screens; do not treat a submitted address as proof the whole process is complete.

For a first store, our suggestion is to start with email and assess SMS later. An email signup does not authorize marketing texts. Before enabling SMS, confirm destination support, sender verification, separate consent wording and records, opt-out behavior, message-credit costs and timing restrictions for your audience.

Privy's SMS compliance guide discusses US consent, policy links, opt-outs and quiet hours. It is not a worldwide compliance guarantee. Check requirements for the places where your customers live and keep email and SMS permission records distinct. Do not upload bought lists or repurpose order-contact details as marketing permission.

Five checks before sending to real subscribers

  1. Budget: record the actual package, pageview or contact allowance, SMS credits if used, cycle date and upgrade conditions.
  2. Mobile: submit and dismiss the form on a phone. Check that the keyboard, banner and thank-you screen leave product information and shopping controls usable.
  3. Consent: test any confirmation step and contact status with your own address. Test unsubscribe behavior and confirm the address is excluded from later marketing sends.
  4. Message: inspect sender name, reply route, collection and policy links, coupon conditions if used and duplicate automations. Do not advertise an unavailable garment.
  5. Sending domain: follow Privy's custom-domain instructions for your domain, add the records generated in your account and verify them. Check the actual message's sender settings; domain verification does not guarantee inbox placement.

Distinguish signups, attributed sales and profit

Keep a simple launch record: date, form shown, confirmed subscribers, welcome emails sent, link visits, unsubscribes and related orders. These are different events. A signup is not an order, and a sent email is not proof it was read.

Privy's attribution documentation describes message-engagement windows and last-touch credit; display attribution follows separate rules. Review the account settings when interpreting revenue. Crediting an order to a message does not prove the customer would not have purchased without it.

Use actual order and refund records to assess costs, including goods, shipping, payment fees, discounts and subscriptions. Avoid claiming profit from an attributed revenue total. When the store is new and the list is small, prioritize a functioning signup path and useful content over headline performance promises.

Privy questions for a first clothing store

Do I need Privy before launching a clothing store?

No. Email signup and automation tools are optional. First prepare accurate product pages, shipping and return information and a working contact route. Choose an app when its features fit your workflow and budget.

Are Privy's pageviews, email contacts and SMS credits the same allowance?

No. They measure different usage. Check the selected package, billing cycle and upgrade conditions in your account; do not treat an SMS credit as one subscriber or add separate popup fees to a bundle by default.

Does an email signup authorize marketing texts?

No. Email and SMS have separate consent settings. Check the requirements and supported destinations before collecting phone numbers or enabling marketing texts.

Why might a double-opt-in subscriber miss the welcome email?

The subscriber must confirm the email subscription before becoming mailable. Test the confirmation path and contact status before changing the welcome Flow.

Do I have to offer a signup discount?

No. You can explain what useful emails subscribers will receive without a discount. If you offer a coupon, check its real cost and checkout conditions before publishing the promise.

Does Privy's attributed revenue prove extra profit?

No. Attribution assigns credit according to reporting rules. Review actual orders, refunds and costs, and do not present attributed sales as proof that the app caused additional profit.
