Shopify vs Wix for Fashion Dropshipping: A Beginner Guide
Published by: Fashion Dropshipping · Research method
Updated 8 October 2026 · Published platform and supplier documentation review; no hands-on integration tests.
For a first fashion dropshipping store, choose the platform that supports your supplier, payments and order process. If your plan depends on Trendsi's documented Shopify app, Shopify is the route to investigate first. Wix is also an option for a clothing store when your chosen supplier has a supported Wix connection. A good-looking website cannot resolve a missing integration.
Start a Shopify trial if you want to build the Shopify route. Check the current offer and ongoing subscription at signup. The trial is a chance to prepare your store; it does not confirm supplier suitability or payment approval.

Shopify vs Wix: check the supplier connection first
Shopify when your plan centers on Trendsi
The official Trendsi Shopify app listing documents a Shopify integration for fashion sourcing and fulfillment. That establishes an available connection to investigate, not a guarantee that every garment, destination or return request fits your store.
Use our Trendsi terms review to check the supplier against your customer market, then follow the Trendsi setup guide. Confirm what the app imports, how stock changes reach the store and what triggers payment and fulfillment.
Wix when your supplier has a supported Wix route
Wix's dropshipping documentation describes connections including Modalyst and Spocket, and print-on-demand options including Printful and Printify. These are different supplier routes with their own products, costs and fulfillment terms.
This review confirms a published Shopify integration for Trendsi; it does not establish a supported native Trendsi connection for Wix. If Trendsi is essential and you prefer Wix, ask Trendsi to identify the current supported connection and explain product imports, stock updates, order forwarding and tracking before you commit. A Shopify app listing does not prove the same workflow exists on Wix.
Decision rule: write down the supplier and actual connection you will use. If the connection is unresolved, keep the platform decision open. If you are still choosing products, use the supplier comparison and Trendsi alternatives guide to investigate the sourcing route first.
Check payments for your business country
Your business location and your customer's delivery country are separate inputs. Before paying for a platform, check a payment provider that accepts your business, products, bank account and chosen currencies. A provider appearing in a country list does not confirm that your application will be approved.
- Shopify: start with Shopify Payments' supported countries and requirements. If it is unavailable for your business, investigate an available alternative and its fees before planning checkout.
- Wix: use Wix's country-by-country provider list and the selected provider's eligibility requirements.
Record transaction fees, currency conversion, refund handling and payout timing for the provider you would actually use. Keep enough cash for supplier payments and customer refunds when those payments are due before a payout arrives.
Compare the bills you will pay, not just a headline price
Use the current Shopify pricing page for the offer, regular plan and billing period available to you. Wix states that you can set up Wix Stores for free but must upgrade to a payment-capable plan before customers place orders. A free site setup and an operating paid store are different stages.
For each platform, make the same short budget:
- Platform: regular subscription, introductory period, renewal date, billing period and applicable tax.
- Supplier and apps: connection plan, product/import limits, monthly fees and per-order charges.
- Storefront: domain, paid design assets, theme or template, and any work you cannot do yourself.
- Each order: garment, destination shipping, payment fee, discounts and an allowance for problems or returns.
- Cash timing: charges due before launch or supplier fulfillment, compared with expected payout availability.
Fictional billing example: a plan displayed as $30 per month with annual billing would cost $360 for twelve months before other charges. Do not budget only $30 if the purchase screen requires the year upfront. This is arithmetic to illustrate a billing period, not a Shopify or Wix quote.
Keep the platform budget separate from order economics. Our Shopify store cost guide explains the different cost buckets; the order cost calculator helps estimate what remains from a sale using your own numbers.
Check a clothing product and the order workflow
In a private draft store, work through one representative garment with several sizes and colors. The checklist below is a procedure for you, not a report of tests we performed on either platform.
- Import: compare the product name, measurements, fabric, variants, images and supplier price with the original listing.
- Availability: establish how stock is updated and what happens if an item becomes unavailable after a customer orders.
- Product page: verify size/color selection, visible delivery information and the return instructions for your customer country.
- Cart: change quantity, remove an item and check that variant labels, prices and totals stay correct on a phone.
- Order handoff: establish whether forwarding is automatic or needs your approval, when the supplier is paid and how a failed payment is reported.
- Tracking and problems: confirm where tracking appears, who handles a lost parcel, and how cancellations and refunds are coordinated.
Use the platform's supported testing method and keep draft products private while you prepare. A preview checks the storefront; proving a live supplier handoff can require a real paid order. If you are not placing one, keep that part marked as unverified.
For a multilingual store, preview each launch language with the actual product data, size units and currency display. Check long labels and right-to-left controls where needed. Store language support and supplier destination coverage must each be checked separately.
SEO: choose based on the tasks you can maintain
Shopify's SEO documentation covers store structure, page keywords and sitemaps. Wix documents editing title tags and descriptions, including product pages. These controls help you describe pages; their presence does not establish that one platform will rank your clothing store higher.
On either platform, prepare accurate product information, useful collection pages, clear navigation and links between related content. Review the actual mobile pages after adding images and apps. Do not publish a large unedited supplier catalog just because importing it is easy.
Google's SEO starter guide emphasizes helpful, original, organized content and explains that no shortcut automatically ranks a site first. Platform selection should support that work, alongside the supplier and payment workflow.
Choose your next step
- Trendsi is your intended supplier: investigate the documented Shopify connection and confirm the supplier terms for your products and destination.
- A different supplier has a supported Wix connection: compare the payment-capable Wix plan and your complete order workflow with the Shopify option.
- Supplier, payments or return handling is unresolved: get those answers before committing to an annual plan or paid design work.
If the Shopify route fits, explore Trendsi for fashion dropshipping and continue with the first clothing store guide. Use the launch checklist to track remaining setup tasks. Once the supplier route is clear, the Shopify theme guide helps you compare storefront options.

Shopify vs Wix: beginner questions
Is Shopify or Wix better for a first fashion dropshipping store?
Choose by the supplier connection, payment eligibility and complete operating costs. If your plan centers on Trendsi, investigate its documented Shopify app first. Wix is an option when your selected supplier has a supported Wix connection and its order workflow fits your store.
Can I use Trendsi with Wix?
This review verifies a published Trendsi Shopify app, but does not establish a supported native Trendsi connection for Wix. Ask Trendsi for the current supported route and confirm imports, stock updates, order forwarding and tracking before relying on it.
Can I operate a Wix clothing store for free?
Wix says you can add and set up Wix Stores for free, but you need a plan that accepts payments before customers can place orders. Supplier products, shipping, apps and payment processing can introduce additional costs.
Which platform is cheaper?
Compare the regular plan, billing period, supplier and app fees, payment costs, design work and per-order charges. Introductory offers and a displayed monthly equivalent do not establish the upfront payment or the full operating budget.
Does Shopify have better SEO than Wix?
Both provide documented SEO controls. This review does not establish a ranking advantage for either platform. Useful original content, accurate product information, clear navigation and the actual mobile experience need attention whichever you choose.
What should I check before opening checkout?
Confirm supplier compatibility, payment eligibility, delivery and returns for your customer country. Check a representative garment through variants, cart totals and the intended supplier handoff using supported testing methods. Mark any live fulfillment process you have not tested as unverified.
